So! I’ve been super busy baking for CNY orders (all thanks to the great support from my family and friends, hehe) and thereafter, 2 popups and Valentine’s.
I happen to come across Central CDC’s facebook page and saw that they organise Farmers’ Markets. I signed up with them and it so happened that they were going to URA’s Car Free Sunday in January.
Car Free Sundays are held in town and have a lot of other fringe activities too, drawing a huge crowd every month. How lucky am I?! 😀
The market was held on 22 Jan 2017, 8am – 12nn. There was a large group doing mass exercises and random groups trying out different types of sports. The amount of people walking past our line of stalls was ok but mostly interested, especially in healthy stuff. That’s probably the best senario: I didn’t have to keep talking to a lot of people yet the conversion rate is high enough to produce good sales. 🙂
The morning crowd was very receptive to healthy muffins as they were looking for breakfast, haha. Samples also stopped people at my stall and converted them into customers.
The roads were blocked for the entire Car Free Sunday event, and reopen at 12:30pm, so you have to ensure you are fully packed and vacated before that. (The organisers have to remove the gazebos before 12:30pm too.)
Surprisingly, the other farmers there didn’t do well at Car Free Sunday, compared to other Central CDC farmers’ markets they’ve joined before, so I’m not sure if I’m just an anomaly. Gratefully lucky anomaly. ^_^
